Narrative Voice Studio
Sessions built around finding your natural rhythm on the page, from sentence length to point of view choices.
Guhili Deroka is an online program for adults who want to write for the joy of it. Through weekly prompts, character work, and small-group feedback, you build narrative confidence at your own pace, with no expectation of chasing a publishing deal.
A lot of adults carry a story they've never written down. Sometimes it's a memory that keeps resurfacing. Sometimes it's a character who's been living in their head for years. Guhili Deroka exists for that person. We built a program around low-stakes practice, honest feedback, and a group of people who are also figuring out their own sentences.
There's no grading here, and no professional publishing track. The point is developing a voice you recognize as yours, one prompt at a time.
Short, specific writing prompts arrive each week. They're designed to bypass the blank page problem and get you writing in the first five minutes, not the fifth draft.
Exercises focused on motivation, contradiction, and voice help you build people on the page who feel lived-in rather than assembled from traits.
Small cohorts read each other's work and respond with specific, kind observations. You'll hear what's landing before you ever hear what's "wrong."
Optional revision sessions let you return to a piece with fresh eyes, without any obligation to make it publication-ready.

Structured exercises for backstory, dialogue quirks, and the small contradictions that make a character believable.
A space for memoir-style and personal essay writing, focused on honesty over polish.
Guided group sessions where members practice giving and receiving useful, specific feedback.
Group sessions run on a simple principle: notice what's working before you talk about what could shift. Facilitators keep the tone constructive, and cohorts stay small enough that everyone gets read, not just skimmed.
Sessions happen online, on a set weekly schedule, so you can join from Philadelphia, Portland, or anywhere else with a decent internet connection. No travel, no studio rental, no pressure to perform for an audience beyond your own circle.
Reach out and we'll walk you through what a typical week looks like.
